Privacy policy

Last updated: October 5, 2026

The Villij Wellness Inc. ("The Villij", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to information we collect through our website, our booking platforms, our studio, our events and retreats, and when you contact us.

We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for Quebec residents, Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector.

Privacy Officer

Our Privacy Officer is responsible for how we handle personal information. For questions, requests or complaints, contact: Privacy Officer, The Villij Wellness Inc. 5 Dickens St, Toronto, Ontario M4M 1T8, Canada info@thevillij.com (subject line: "Privacy")

What we collect and why

We only collect what we need for the purposes below, and we ask for your consent when we collect it.

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 through our website or bookings.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run The Villij, and only what they need:

These providers must protect your information and use it only to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety in an emergency.

Transfers outside Canada. Some of our providers store information outside Canada, mainly in the United States. Retreat partners are located in the destination country. Information stored outside Canada is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessed by its authorities. We assess these transfers and require providers to protect your information.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies through Squarespace to keep the site working, remember your preferences and measure how visitors use it. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not work properly.

Emails from us

We send booking confirmations, reminders and service messages when you book with us. We send newsletters and offers only if you have agreed to receive them, in line with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.

Photos and video

We sometimes take photos and video at classes, events and retreats. We will let you know when content is being captured, and you can ask not to be included. We use identifiable images of guests in our marketing only with consent, such as a signed photo and video release. To ask us to remove a photo of you, contact our Privacy Officer.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as required by law:

  • Booking, payment and financial records: at least 6 years, to meet tax requirements.

  • Signed waivers and agreements: for the period needed to respond to legal or insurance claims.

  • Retreat travel details, such as passport, flight, dietary and health information: deleted within 12 months after the retreat ends.

  • Newsletter details: until you unsubscribe.

When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it.

How we protect it

We use reputable platforms with security protections, limit access to the people who need it, and use password-protected accounts. No method of storing or sending information is completely secure, but we work to protect your information. If a privacy breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner as the law requires.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;

  • correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;

  • withdraw your consent, for example to marketing emails or photo use, subject to legal or contractual limits; and

  • delete your information when we no longer need it.

Contact our Privacy Officer to make a request. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Quebec residents also have the right to receive your information in a structured, commonly used technological format, and may file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. If we make significant changes, we will let you know by email or on our website.
